Spirit Of Progress goes far with this release- two producers from remote places (Siberia and Armenia respectively) have created dance music for people who despise dance music (normally). Industrial techno alright, but this refuses all conventions: Excessive track lengths (the 4 cryptically titled ones add up to a full hour of playing time), painfully minimal sections, excess noise, playful abstraction – and yet a totally immediate, forceful and sometimes psychedelic experience. The rhythms remain below the 135 bpm mark, but the sound is massive and raw, coming on with enormous physical impact. XԵԵX is not just letters, but a deadly weapon, for those who can handle it.
